For the MAGNET initiative, I analyzed large survey datasets from eight African countries to test the validity and reliability of tools, specifically designed to improve the measurement of women's agency based on their control over assets, goal setting abilities, preferences in decision making, and sense of efficacy. I applied statistical techniques like Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis to test the consistency with which the tools were able to map the relevant construct(s) of interest. In the process, I obtained highly technical results that I translated into easily interpretable insights to inform policy recommendations. This facilitated women empowerment related policy advocacy and research uptake efforts in the host countries.
