From design to implementation

Next, I worked with country teams (i.e., World Bank teams embedded in the host countries) to customize and incorporate the tools in field surveys, in order to minimize the otherwise commonly neglected gap between design and implementation. This feedback loop helped troubleshoot errors in real-time and made the tool creation process agile. I noticed that along with having their own field teams in the respective countries, the World Bank and GIL also partner with local organizations and entities for implementation and process monitoring support. This process brings in local wisdom, knowledge, expertise, and resourcefulness to ensure that the resources invested can be utilized towards materializing the best outcomes for the people. This was an excellent example for how grassroots organizations can work with multilateral IGOs to create policies that are not only based on the requirements from the field, but also informed by learnings from other international contexts, without reinventing the wheel every single time.
